How to get your dog to listen MORE by doing LESS.
I still remember the amazing feeling when Sigrid sat down for the first time. We'd done it. By dangling a a piece of sausage above her nose, her butt hit the floor and she happily ate her treat (and what felt like half of my hand.) At this point, I probably learned a million more things than she did, BUT there was something missing. I got her to sit down...
...AND NOW WHAT?
For how long was she supposed to be sitting? Do I have to repeat "sit" or "stay" every 3 seconds? "That can't be right..."
I thought to myself and I was right. So what was missing? Just one of the most important words in dog training;
THE RELEASE CUE!
In the example above the word "BREAK" is the the release cue. This word means "Mission accomplished" and is used to release your dog from whatever task they were asked to do. By saying less, we accomplish more and our training gets BETTER, FASTER and EASIER.
I will let you in on a little secret... In April we'll begin our brand new SPRINGTIME TEAM TRAINING! This means that you can bring your best friend AND their dog to your 1 to 1 session without an additional cost! There will challenges, customized training plans and a lot of fun!
